Certificate of Deposit (CD) - Definition

Time deposits with banks with a specific, fixed term (often three months, six months or 1-5 years) are offered, and usually a fixed Interest Rate. It is envisaged that the CD be held until Maturity, at which time the money can be withdrawn together with Accrued interest.
